This year sees the return of the Senior Competition, which allows young musicians to compete for the opportunity to perform a full concerto with the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra in the 2022/23 season and receive a cash prize of £1,000. The two runners-up will receive a cash prize of £250.

Up to eight competitors will each perform a recital programme lasting 8 - 12 minutes, in front of an audience and panel of judges.
Concerto Competition Final

Selected finalists will each perform one movement of a concerto, with the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra, conducted by John Traill, in front of an audience and panel of judges.

Applicants may be required to prove that they meet these entry requirements. Previous winners of the Senior Concerto Competition may not enter again.
Applicants will be invited to perform two contrasting pieces or movements lasting no longer than ten minutes. Please provide your own accompanist if required. For the Orchestral Apprenticeship audition there will be a sight-reading test, taken from standard orchestral repertoire, which will be available 30 minutes prior to the audition.
