Ivan Ludlow - baritone
Marios Papadopoulos - conductor
A concert of passionate late 19th century Austro-German works. The Philomusica’s impressive string players will be showcased in Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht, before Mahler’s first song cycle is performed by Ivan Ludlow, a regular guest at some of Europe’s most prestigious opera houses. Both Schoenberg and Mahler were profoundly influenced by Wagner, and so one of the latter’s most significant works will provide the perfect close to the evening.
Pre-concert Event: Young Artists Platform, 7pm
A chance to hear some of Oxfordshire’s most talented young musicians perform a programme of chamber music in the Sheldonian Theatre.
Free admission.
