Artist in Residence and supreme virtuoso violinist Maxim Vengerov joins the Orchestra at the Sheldonian Theatre to perform one of the most significant concertos ever written. At times achingly tender, and others refreshingly rugged, Brahms’s concerto – a paragon of virtuosic brilliance – never fails to enchant audiences. Also a celebrated conductor, Vengerov will step on to the podium to lead the Orchestra in Mendelssohn’s evocative impression of Scotland as he brings the concert to a thrilling close. The evening will also feature a work by Rachel Lockwood, specially commissioned for the Orchestra’s 15th anniversary.

Please note the change to the original programme.
