Without our supporters we could never hope to sustain the world-class music making that we promote in Oxford and across the Thames valley.
Oxford Philomusica is an Oxford-based orchestra that serves the local community. Its patrons, its supporters and the University with which it is associated share the musicians’ aspirations to become a leading institution. The only way the orchestra can hope to reach higher levels of artistic achievement is to increase concert activity and rehearsal time and offer the very best musicians from amongst our pool of players enough work to make them regular members of the orchestra.
Earned income from box-office receipts amounts to only a small percentage of our income, as it does for most orchestras in the UK. The current climate presents enormous challenges for any orchestra but particularly for Oxford Philomusica which seeks to offer the highest standard of artistic excellence while remaining affordable and accessible to our target audiences which include both young and old people, first-time concert goers, residents of deprived areas, and others on lower incomes. Oxford Philomusica is a registered UK charity number 1084256.
The Orchestra receives no regular funding from the Arts Council or any other statutory body and relies entirely on its own fundraising efforts to maintain not only its concert programme but also all of its education and community work.
At this critical stage of our development we seek visionaries who will invest in our future.
