University Residency

Oxford Philomusica was appointed the first ever Professional Orchestra in Residence at The University of Oxford. We invite sponsors to support the Orchestra’s Residency. The following are some of the schemes devised by Oxford Philomusica in association with the University’s Faculty of Music as part of the University Residency:

Supporting the Oxford Philomusica’s University Residency will provide the opportunity for a company or an individual to associate their name with one of the world’s most famous universities. Names of benefactors above a certain level may appear in the official Annual Report of the University of Oxford. This is a highly prestigious sponsorship opportunity.

You may choose to support the whole residency programme for a year or individual schemes.

  • To support the University Residency for one year £20,000
  • Apprenticeship in Orchestral Playing £3,000
  • Orchestral Studies £3,000

County Music Service

We work closely with the County Music Service. Our highly trained musicians provide workshops and masterclasses, we offer orchestral apprenticeships for Oxfordshire pupils to receive professional training and play with the orchestra, and young musicians perform in the theatre prior to an Oxford Philomusica concert as part of our Young Artists’ Platform.

Community

The perfect vehicle to deliver your Corporate Responsibility strategy and increase your company’s public profile.

In recognition of its far-reaching work in the community, including its artistic leadership of the celebrated Blackbird Leys Choir, Oxford Philomusica won the Oxford Times Charity and Community Award in the Oxfordshire Business Awards 2007.

Our dedicated team of specialist musicians maintain an ongoing programme of work in hospitals, community centres and special schools.

  • Projects with the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital, where we have a residency and work with severely physically disabled clients. (Cost: £2,000)
  • We run projects with independent schools combined with a local primary school. (Cost: £1,000)
  • Sam Glazer, a qualified animateur, works at the Mulberry Bush special school near Witney. He uses his professional skills to allow pupils to connect to the orchestra and its music in new ways. (Cost: £2,000)
  • We work in local primary and special needs schools. (Cost: £3,000)
