HRH Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy, has become Royal Patron of Oxford Philomusica.
The Princess recently visited the City to hear Oxford Philomusica perform Haydn’s masterpiece The Creation at the Sheldonian Theatre, with the Choir of New College conducted by Edward Higginbottom. HRH Princess Alexandra will join an illustrious group of Oxford Philomusica supporters. The Rt Hon Lord Patten CH is Honorary President; Sir Victor Blank, Vice President; and Vladimir Askenazy is the orchestra’s Patron. Princess Alexandra will take up the role of Royal Patron from October 2011 initially until the end of 2012.
Marios Papadopoulos, Music Director of Oxford Philomusica, commented: We are delighted that Princess Alexandra has agreed to become our first Royal Patron. The Princess is a committed supporter of music and the arts and Oxford Philomusica much looks forward to welcoming Her Royal Highness to future concerts.
