Community Partnerships

Cultural diversity and social inclusion form an integral part of the Oxford Philomusica's mission, and the orchestra has since its inception run a highly regarded 'music in the community' programme.

Our objective is to bring music to areas in the community where access is not normally available, particularly in special needs, multi-cultural areas of the city and the surrounding area.

We have as a result undertaken an extensive outreach programme in local schools, hospitals, community centres, retirement homes and asylum centres.

The experience of bringing music into the lives of people who have had no direct experience before has been a joy to undertake, and our clients in schools and hospitals have repeatedly been amazed at the stimulating, energising and in some cases therapeutic effects music has had on the pupils and patients in their care.
