Having recently spent three weeks with Lady
Walton at her home on Ischia, Thomas Bowes probably knows as
much as anyone about Walton: the man, the composer and his much
loved Violin Concerto. An opportunity to hear how this
evening’s soloist has prepared for the performance and
what gems he took away from his exploration into the
composer’s psyche. The Oxford Philomusica season
continues with An Evening of English Music, featuring Sir
William Walton’s Violin Concerto and Elgar’s Enigma
Variations - a work that needs no introduction.
