As part of our University Residency, we are keen to encourage and promote the work of music students. In this concert, we are presenting the UK premiere of a work by the outstandingly talented post-graduate student Alicia Grant entitled Centrifugue. Pianist Piers Lane, whose numerous recordings of the romantic piano concertos on the Hyperion label have received international critical acclaim, performs one of the best-loved works by Rachmaninoff, his Variations on a Theme by Paganini. The concert, conducted by John Georgiadis, concludes with arguably one of Sibelius' most beautiful symphonies.
