The Oxford 2008/09 Season opens with an intriguing life-celebrating programme.
Wagner’s birthday gift to Cosima and the young Mendelssohn’s impressions of Italy frame Robert Saxton’s take on the Resurrection and an exuberant Clarinet Concerto by the twenty-five
year old Weber. The soloist is the brilliant young clarinettist Mark Simpson,
winner of the 2006 BBC Young Musician of the Year and currently reading music
at Oxford.
